The University of Alabama invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position starting September 1, 2015. The successful candidate would work on the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment designed to carry out a direct search for dark matter. The primary scope of the position will be to play a leading role in the development of software tools for online and offline data processing, event reconstruction, and database management. The University of Alabama group also has major involvement in the materials screening program and detector calibration. The successful candidate could take responsibilities in these areas too.

The initial appointment would be for one year; thereafter the appointment would be extended annually contingent on satisfactory performance and continued funding. A Ph.D. in experimental particle or nuclear physics or related field is required.

Applications, comprised of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and names and contact information for three professional references, should be submitted online at http://facultyjobs.ua.edu/postings/36528. The cover letter should highlight how the applicant’s experience and interests relate to the position. For more information, contact Jerry Busenitz (busenitz@ua.edu). Applications received by July 1, 2015 are guaranteed full consideration, however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
